Job Description
Need a lead engineer to direct at our company. in its mission to provide laser cut apertures to customers all over the world. Candidate will both oversee the maintenance and enhancement of current manufacturing processes and products and develop new processes and products that satisfy customer needs:
Oversee production of a) laser micromachined patterns in foils and small parts b) additive manufactured micro-and nano-structures, and c) small linear and rotary motion stages. Contribute to process advancements and decisions concerning production techniques.
Assume overall responsibility for maintenance of production systems that employ DPSS systems including femtosecond lasers, beam train optics, motion stages, motion controllers (ex. Galil and ACS) and governing control software.
Execute and update the company's technology roadmap in concert with management direction and guide the development of new products in the areas of micromachining capabilities and small motion stages as well as new production systems/strategies with an eye toward production automation.
Support market research and product development for new markets including medical, communications, and others.
Maintain awareness of technologies that could impact the company's competitiveness
Qualifications
Bachelor's (or graduate) degree in electrical engineering or physics from an accredited institution
At least 10 years of industrial experience
Experience desired in the following areas
Lasers and electro-optic systems design/use
Analog and digital circuit design
Design of feedback control for motion systems (classical feedback PID controllers)
Simulation experience would be a plus
Able to:
Work in a small collaborative team environment
Provide engineering direction to members of technical and production staff
Perform design collaboration with software developers and contract optical and mechanical engineers
Facility with engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and communication with machinists
Exhibit concept development skills in contribution to advancing the company's IP portfolio
Understand multi-disciplinary topics such as coating chemistry/materials science, sensor technology, and automation
