Job Description
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who can handle a busy caseload, collection and organization of documents, has great communication, time management, and organizational skills, and can assist the attorneys with probate, trust administration, and family law matters. Law office experience is strongly preferred, but if a candidate does not have actual law firm experience, course work in paralegal studies is required. We are looking for someone who is eager to jump right in and join our team. Compensation commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
Work directly with attorneys
Review and draft routine legal documents
Create and maintain case files
Facilitate the meeting of attorney's deadlines by keeping organized schedules and providing timely reminders
E-file pleadings
Manage and prepare discovery/disclosures
Communicate directly with clients and respond to client inquiries
Qualifications
Experience as a legal assistant or paralegal required (preferably in the areas of probate and/or family law)
Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate preferred
Familiarity with legal documents and terminology
Working knowledge of WordPerfect, Essential Forms, Microsoft Excel
Strong writing and communication skills
Systematic and able to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines
Self-starter and ability to work independently
Able to work as a team with attorneys and other colleagues
Demonstrate a courteous and professional demeanor and ability to translate that demeanor when speaking with clients and other parties/offices
