Job Description
What You'll Do:
You'll be responsible for the Transmission and Telecom Graphical Information Systems (GIS) and associated data, the use of GIS technology to improve business processes, the integration of data from multiple applications, and the transformation and delivery of the integrated data into information useful for decision making related to operating the assets of the AEP distribution system.
Provide counsel to Utilities management for issues related to the use of GIS and data to improve business processes.
Develop and coordinate strategies used to provide GIS data and related services in order to minimize operational risks.
Develop and coordinate strategies used to integrate GIS technology into daily operations that improve business processes.
Develop and coordinate strategies to create distribution data marts that integrate data from multiple applications that result in the transformation and delivery of data into information useful for decision making to all levels of Utilities management.
Effectively communicate both complex technical and non-technical GIS issues to AEP leadership.
Assess patterns of technologies by examining their effects on parts of an organization, as well as the effects on the organization's interactions with customers, suppliers, distributors, and workers.
Promote safe excavation and damage prevention within AEP and the larger excavating community through shared responsibility, safe digging practices, and the economic review of locate requests and involvement with state and local damage prevention agencies.
What We're Looking For:
Education requirements are listed below:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering or GIS mapping or Associate degree in related discipline and two (2) years of experience in a GIS related field or High school diploma and four (4) years' experience in a GIS related field.
Work Experience requirement listed below:
Minimum of twelve (12) years' experience in Transmission and/or Telecom related activities in addition to experience listed above including five (5) years supervisory/management experience.
Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:
Valid state driver's license.
