Reports To: Production Manager

OVERVIEW:

The Material Handlers primary responsibility is the control and proper distribution of raw material on the production floor. Material Handlers are also responsible for secondary materials processing, (coloring, drying, grinding, etc.) and ensuring a sufficient supply of raw materials is maintained at producing work centers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must develop and maintain working knowledge of material grades, dryer temperatures, labeling, inventory codes, reports, and production schedules.

Upon arrival, familiarizes him/her with the current job s in production, the level of material at each work center, reviews the production schedule for upcoming coming/changing job s, and reviews the sufficiency of pre-staged molds and material s that will be needed.

Stages material s, tooling and supplies for future production jobs.

Maintains material lot traceability and accurate material logs at all work centers, driers, staging and warehouse areas.

Using production schedules and reports, determines the correct material for each job, loads material dryers and machine hoppers as required to maintain production levels.

Blends regrind and colorants to specific specifications as instructed in the job packet documentation, quality records and/or directed by supervision.

Reports material and supplies shortages, misuse, waste, contamination, certification, and a lot of control discrepancies to supervision immediately upon discovery.

Cleans dryers, hoppers, loaders, material grinders, conveyors, auxiliary equipment, and part collection bins, as needed.

Avoiding cross grade and/or colors contamination, grinds, packages and labels runners and discrepant parts for material reclamation and reuse.

Maintains the production floor, in a clean and safe condition always clear of any spills and accumulation of debris.

Transports material and supplies to and/or from the warehouse, staging areas, and the production floor.

Supports company objectives, procedures, and policies.

REQUIREMENTS:

Training and experience -Two or more years performing in a production environment, (preferably plastic molding) as an operator, material handler, utility person, set-up assistant and/or in a warehouse, shipping and receiving or inventory control position.

Good oral and written, (English) communication skills are required.

TRAINING:

Certification in forklift operation, Knowledge of operating other warehouse machinery, Data entry, math and computer skills, physically fit with the ability to lift objects weighing between 50-100 pounds.
