Job Description

This position provides information management and decision support to the campus community.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities:

External Reporting

Develops, coordinates, facilitates, maintains, and disseminates university-wide analytical data related to academic, student, administrative and development programs (e.g., the tracking of student cohorts for FTIC, transfer, adult undergraduates, and graduate students).

Designs, implements, analyzes, and interprets internal research (e.g., Census Day Reports).

Provides leadership or assistance to campus research that relates to the measurement of institutional effectiveness (e.g., National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), NACUBO Tuition Discounting Study, National SAT Validity Study).

Coordinates with the Registrar to produce official enrollment statistics for Census Day.

Coordinates university, school and department or program responses to external surveys, particularly for IPEDS (as the campus keyholder), Common Data Set, US News, College Board, Peterson's, and the NCAA among others.

Provides data and technical support to professional schools to meet external accreditation standards.

Designs, organizes, and maintains central data files and other kinds of evidence documenting student learning and institutional planning (e.g., student cohort databases, student enrollment databases).

Maintains a central repository of information and data at the course, program, and institutional levels.

Responsible for creating, submitting, and correcting enrollment files (monthly) and graduation files (three times a year) to the National Student Clearinghouse.

Uses data from the National Student Clearinghouse's StudentTracker system to produce reports on where former Capital students are now attending college and to produce reports on where Capital alumni are obtaining graduate degrees.

Assists Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Accounts, and the Provost's Office with the creation and submission of files for the Financial Value Transparency (FVT) and Gainful Employment (GE) programs under the US Department of Education.

Assists with maintaining the Consumer Information Page on the Capital University Web site as mandated by federal law.

Oversight of substantive change requests

Responses to HLC inquiries and complaints

Communicates current policies and procedures

Maintains official documents and reports to HLC

Qualifications:

Master's degree (M. A.) in a social science discipline or higher education.

Four to ten years related experience and/or training.

Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A minimum of three years of experience in curriculum development, assessment, or program evaluation processes in higher education.

Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point; and can quickly learn Colleague.

Proficiency in managing large databases and data sets.

A significant technology background, especially in the areas of data warehousing, data analysis, and online reporting.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.

Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

This position requires the ability and/or skill to work closely and professionally with others as part of a team; be flexible; pay attention to detail; work without supervision and demonstrate considerable initiative; communicate professionally through both verbal and written means; manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines; establish departmental goals and priorities; and contribute to Capital University's philosophy, strategic plan, goals, and doctrine.
