Equipment Operator - Gas Distribution

We have a large Gas Distribution project running in Central and Eastern Iowa over the next few years and are seeking to hire a variety of union Operators and Laborers to join our growing team. Each position varies in job duties and responsibilities. The information listed below is a broad overview of all job openings.

Requirements:

Flexibility to work varying schedules and stay late as needed

Ability to work in changing weather conditions

Willing to travel overnights during the construction season

Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time and maneuver in small areas

Federal Med/Health Card

Strong communication skills

*Preferred Class A CDL with tanker endorsement, but not required

Duties

Work in adherence to safe practices, written procedures, and worksite or traffic laws

Perform other duties as assigned

Perform pre/post-trip inspections daily

Operate equipment of various sizes and weights to prepare worksite, excavations, and move materials

Use hand tools to dig around existing utilities to prevent damages

Checks and maintains equipment in good and safe working order

Keep worksite clean and organized

Education, Skills, Experience:

Previous experience in the utility and/or distribution industry

Safely work around equipment, and around underground utilities

Desire to learn and commitment to working safely

Maintain a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
