The Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineering identifies, develops, prioritizes, and implements manufacturing initiatives and key business objectives that deliver strategic value and financial success through individual analysis and planning as well as in collaboration with manufacturing leaders across the organization. The position is responsible for supervising, developing, and mentoring the manufacturing engineering team in pursuit of operational excellence.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Model the way. Provide supervisory people leadership to develop and mentor team of manufacturing engineers to meet business and personal development objectives. Facilitate an environment that delivers results and supports learning and growth. Develop and coach to a standard approach for problem solving, designing, optimizing, and improving processes in manufacturing with the goal of improving business objectives. (40%)

Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify potential improvements. Partner with manufacturing leaders to problem solve and implement, or direct implementation of, sustainable solutions to existing manufacturing problems. (30%)

Develop long range manufacturing strategy and plans with the manufacturing team and senior leaders. Lead, facilitate and coordinate new manufacturing processes as needed. Research current and emerging manufacturing industry technology and trends to transform operations. (30%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, related field or equivalent work experience

7 years experience as an engineer in a manufacturing environment

5 years experience managing/supervising individuals and/or projects independently with decision making responsibilities

Project Management: Ability to plan and maintain budgets, schedules, and resources, delegating duties and working within limited time frames, to achieve a particular objective. A time-conscious person who is results-oriented and meets strict deadlines. Experience with the PMI methodology of project management is a plus.

Decision Making & Judgment: Ability to find solutions acceptable to diverse groups with conflicting interests and needs. Ability to balance analysis, wisdom, experience, and perspective when making decisions.

Self-Management: Ability to display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner. Ability to manage multiple tasks and project deadlines.

Management Skills: Ability to create an environment that allows team to feel motivated to work and interact. Ability to set clear, meaningful, challenging, and attainable goals. Ability to coach and mentor.

Business Acumen: Ability to drive business success through understanding strategic goals, financial ROI of projects, KPIs, and project budgets.

Attention to Detail: Ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task. Ability to diligently attend to details and pursue quality in accomplishing tasks.

Influencing Others: Ability to gain cooperation from others to obtain information and accomplish goals

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.

Adaptability & Flexibility: Maintain flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments, coping with rapidly changing information. Ability to respond positively to change, embracing and using new practices or values to accomplish goals and solve problems.

Computer: 3D CAD or Automation modeling software, Windows based computer skills (Outlook, Excel and Word), MS Project/Smart sheet or other project management software

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment where standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printer/scanner, etc. are frequently used.

TRAVEL

This position requires domestic and international travel up to 20% of the time.

This full-time, exempt position is located in Columbus, OH

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

Pay

$82,500.00 - $132,000.00 / year
