Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Ohio, an Affiliate of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, empowers the young people who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens by providing high-quality and impactful out-of-school time programming for youth in grades K-12. BGCCO serves 4,000 youth per year throughout Central Ohio.
Position Summary
The Youth Program Support (YPS) role will assist club programs and staff in delivering high-quality programming that promotes both the immediate and long-term success of our members. Team members in this role will apply our five key elements of positive youth development, which are grounded in research and reflect the best practices observed across many Clubs. Create a safe, positive environment
Generate fun and foster a sense of belonging
Encourage supportive relationships with peers and adults
Provide opportunities and set expectations
Offer recognition for positive behavior
Essential Job Function & Responsibilities:
Under direct supervision of a club leader a YPS provides support to programs, members (K-8th grade), and club staff through activities and services that are essential for preparing youth members for success through organizational awareness, systemic and innovative thinking.
Gain the experience to support a positive youth experience through relationship building, providing recognition, leading by example, and listening, while serving as a positive role model.
Under the supervisor of a club leader gain the basic skills and understanding of what is required to work with youth and implement quality programs in a safe environment.
Learn the skills and competencies needed to become a mentor.
Engage with club members to provide exceptional experience.
Gain knowledge on how to model and encourage positive behavior and interactions between members.
Assist with special events (field trips, club special guest etc.).
Assist with keeping the club organized and clean, arranging rooms, common areas etc.
Professionalism:
Learn and apply principles for basic youth supervision.
Learn about how to recognize child abuse and reporting.
Understanding youth worker rights.
Learn and follow club safety policies and procedures (Code of Conduct, Health & Safety Hazards,
Emergency Operation Plans & Drills, Sanitation and Facility Safety).
Identifying cyber security.
Understanding sexual harassment.
Injury/Accident reporting forms
Behavioral Expectations
Social Media and Internet Safety
Additional Responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service to all members and guests.
Support the club with arts & crafts, recreational programs by helping members with materials or equipment.
Help with setting up equipment for programming an activity, as well as cleaning and organizing spaces before and after events.
Assist with basic office duties such as preparing materials, arranging logistics for projects or events, and handling routine inquiries.
Work closely with other team members to ensure a positive and safe experience for all members.
May be required to work outdoors during hot weather. Proper hydration and breaks will be provided to ensure comfort and safety.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum 16 years of age.
Strong work ethic, positive personality, and attitude.
Ability to be on time and reliable for each scheduled shift, always clock in and out before and after each shift.
Must be able to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Must submit to a background check.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office products.
Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents, and community leaders.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and other external sources in a professional manner
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 lbs.

Ability to work outside in warm weather conditions; comfortable with varying temperatures and seasonal weather.
