Position Summary

Vinson Hall Retirement Community (VHRC), a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community located in McLean, VA, is seeking an energetic and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our Assisted Living, Long-Term Care (LTC), and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Department. Requirements

Previous dementia training and experience required.

Experience in a geriatric activity setting or nursing home preferred.

Certification as an Activities Professional as defined by state and federal regulations is preferred.

Strong desire to work with a geriatric population and function as an active team member.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Primary Responsibilities:

Assist in the development and implementation of activity programs that align with residents' interests and needs in the Assisted Living, LTC, and SNF departments.

Lead or assist with group and one-on-one activities designed to enhance social, cognitive, and emotional well-being for older adults.

Maintain accurate documentation of residents' participation in activities and progress toward goals.

Communicate with residents, families, and staff to provide information about scheduled activities and any special events.

Provide ongoing support and companionship to residents, encouraging engagement and participation in activities.

Monitor residents' health and behavior during activities, reporting any changes to the team.

Ensure compliance with safety protocols and assist in maintaining a safe environment for residents.

Participate in staff meetings and training programs, including in-service education as required by state regulations.
