Job Summary:
The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant's main function is to provide coordinated speech therapy to patients/clients of all age groups under the supervision of a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administers the speech therapy treatment plan as developed by the Speech Language Pathologist.
Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in performing patient/client care activities.
Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients/clients.
Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to provide patient/client and caregiver education.
Participates in the Agency sponsored in-service training.
Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance, as necessary.
Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
Qualifications/Experience:
Education: Graduate from a school of speech therapy assistant with a bachelor's degree in speech therapy.
Licensure: Active state license as a speech therapy assistant. Current driver's license.
Experience: One year experience as a speech therapy assistant, preferred. Proof of current CPR certification and Hepatitis profile.
Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance.
Language skills:
Ability to read and write English.
Bilingual Preferred
Physical Requirements:
The ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required. Requires working
under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient/client needs and to meet patient/client and family individualized
psychosocial needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Working Conditions:
Works in health care facility or patients'/clients' homes in various conditions; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious disease; ability to work a flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to bad weather.
