JOB SUMMARY

The Sr. Project Engineer - Design is responsible for project scoping, overall project estimating, and ensuring company design and safety standards are satisfied. This position will support all of the company’s aggregate production plants, industrial minerals facilities, and ready-mix concrete operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop design surfaces for new plants at Greenfield, Brownfield, and existing locations considering BFE, stormwater runoff, and process water management

Develop site civil designs and plant layouts that maximize stockpile sizes and allow safe and efficient truck traffic patterns, along with desirable plant functionality

Develop drawings for steel structures supporting processing equipment, foundations, dump blocks, and diverse types of chutes for material handling transfer points

Utilize senior-level technical expertise to consider a broad range of engineering solutions

Select and size crushed stone aggregate production equipment such as crushers, screens, and conveyors

Review all third-party drawings for adherence to company design and safety standards

Partner with plant management as necessary to ensure designs will meet needs of the personnel to operate the designed plant components

Forensically investigate and analyze occasional structural failures, accidents, and damaged components

Determine the causes of failures, assess potential risks, and develop recommendations for repair and recovery

Provide field supervision and inspection services on construction and heavy maintenance projects

Manage the NRMCA inspections for ready-mix plants throughout Oklahoma

Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing company procedures, rules, and regulations

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study from an accredited university

At least 8 years of engineering and related experience required

Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain the license in Oklahoma within one year of employment, required

Experience working in an industrial, mining, or heavy civil industry preferred

NRMCA inspection experience preferred

Experience with mine processing and pumping equipment preferred

Experience with structural modeling software like Revit or Risa preferred

Experience with project scoping and estimating preferred

Experience managing projects of varying scale and complexity preferred

Experience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), with the ability to generate construction drawings using AutoCAD preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proficient in Structural Analysis and Structural Engineering

Ability to demonstrate vision beyond the task at hand and anticipate risks and effects of their actions

Ability to understand and support the objectives that are responsible for successful project delivery

Refined technical skills to identify problems, develop appropriate solutions, and make good decisions, knowing what tools to use for effective solutions and optimal outcomes on projects

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with internal and external business partners

Strong knowledge of codes, standards, and construction/engineering processes

Civil Engineering skills with Mechanical Engineering knowledge preferred

Strong knowledge of concrete and steel design

Strong familiarity with engineering software tools, methodologies, and best practices

Familiarity with AggFlow

Advanced computer knowledge including MS Office Suite, MS Project, and the ability to create and understand complex MS Excel spreadsheets

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with good driving record

Ability to travel up to 60% of the time to various field locations with overnight stays as needed

Ability to work outside normal business hours if necessary

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lift, push, or pull objects of various dimensions up to 30 lbs. of weight occasionally

Ability to perform 80% sedentary work and tolerate prolonged standing/sitting/walking

Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects

Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel

Ability to verbally communicate, hear, and see
