Scope of Position
Works within a defined organizational structure supporting the functions of the Clinical Epidemiology Department for the purpose of improving the care and safety of patients and staff.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director, Clinical Epidemiology, and IP Supervisor, supports the needs of the Clinical Epidemiology Department staff. Provides project management and data management oversight of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s hand hygiene program. Main role will be management of the electronic hand hygiene monitoring system. This system has been installed in all inpatient units and all staff that enter patient rooms have been badged to be monitored. Automatic reports at a determined frequency will be sent to the individual staff member and manager to drive improvement and compliance affecting patient safety. This individual will also be responsible to develop and maintain a hand hygiene monitoring program for areas not being electronically monitored (e.g., OHA). They will also help maintain compliance with external agencies (e.g., LeapFrog, TJC, ODH, CMS, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field or associates in nursing required.
At least a year of healthcare or public health experience preferred.
Knowledge of principles of epidemiology, infection prevention, infectious diseases and microbiology preferred.
