Senior Project Manager – MEP (Mechanical Engineer)

New York, NY Hybrid Full-Time

Position Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager – MEP to join our Engineering & Project Management team. In this role, you’ll lead and manage the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components of complex building projects. You’ll work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure MEP systems are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

What You’ll Do

Lead the planning, coordination, design process, and construction of MEP system upgrades.

Oversee third-party consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure timely and quality project delivery.

Review and coordinate MEP design documents for quality, code compliance, and constructability.

Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated project execution.

Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and resolve technical or scheduling issues.

Review and approve MEP shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs.

Ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and industry best practices.

Conduct engineering investigations and feasibility studies.

Lead, mentor, and support junior team members and share technical expertise.

Present project updates, reports, recommendations, and project details to executive level customer representatives.

Manage customer relationships to foster business development opportunities.

Manage project budgets and ensure project billing is accurate and timely.

What You’ll Bring

Required:

Min 5 years of experience managing MEP projects in engineering design and/or construction projects.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

Experience with engineering consulting firms

Experience utilizing design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam).

Strong organizational, leadership, and client communication skills.

In-depth knowledge of applicable building codes and permitting processes.

Preferred:

Engineer In Training – (EIT); Professional Engineering (PE) license (NY State).

Project Management (PMP) certification or related credentials

Industry relevant certifications in; Energy Engineering, Commissioning, Construction, or Other

Work Environment & Schedule

This position is based in New York, NY, with a flexible hybrid schedule.

Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.

Travel requirements: Field onsite visits: 30-50% depending on project workload.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $140,000 – $160,000, based on knowledge, skills, and experience.
