Summary:
This position is responsible for performing and/or overseeing all compliance related activities within the food safety and quality assurance department. This position will also have oversight and responsibility for the FSQA Lab as well as serve as a backup for all SQF, QA, and HACCP duties.
Essential Duties:
1. Responsible for ensuring that HACCP, SSOP, Quality and all other prerequisite programs are maintained and kept current.
2. Setup and conduct and/or oversee all microbiological training, tests, and chemical analysis.
3. Complete sensory evaluations as needed.
4. Collect and complete sample requests as needed.
5. Fill in for the FSQA Manager and/or FSQA Supervisors as necessary.
6. Training individuals from a wide range of education levels on food safety, regulatory, and other applicable areas within the SQF Code and verification testing.
7. Understand and enforce company policies and procedures.
8. Cross-train to ensure all lab samples are properly packaged and sent. Maintain records of samples sent.
9. Cross-train to ensure pre-operational inspection of the entire plant is performed daily and within the established timeframe.
10. Perform plant walk through of structural deficiencies and record on PIP (Plant Improvement Plan) – follow up with maintenance and operations as needed to ensure completion.
11. Perform GMP audits and Glass and Brittle Inventory Control and document corrective actions where necessary.
12. Perform other related responsibilities, as needed and as directed by Manager, to support Plainville Farms and business objectives.
Skills:
Ø Bachelor's degree in Poultry or Animal Science, food science, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Ø Supervisory experience preferred.
Ø Basic microbiological knowledge and laboratory skills.
Ø Ability to organize, plan, and complete work in a timely fashion.
Ø Ability to pre-plan and maintain inventory of supplies.
Ø Willingness and ability to learn and perform all the jobs in the department as well as train others.
Ø Ability to recognize and respond to changes appropriately.
Ø Demonstrated positive attitude and uncompromising regard for quality and food safety.
Ø Ability to maintain confidential information.

Supervise up to 15 Technicians (Day/Night Shift)
