Job Description
The Controller is responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s financial reporting, including preparation and oversight of the profit & loss statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements. This role also includes ownership of the accounts payable and receivable processes, bank reconciliations, commission analysis, and monitoring expense trends. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented professional who can operate independently in a small office environment
Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain the company’s monthly financial reports, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to ensure account accuracy
Track and report on revenue performance and related trends
Analyze manufacturer commission reports to ensure accurate and complete payments
Identify patterns or discrepancies in commission and expense data
Manage accounts receivable, including invoice tracking, payment posting, and resolving discrepancies
Manage accounts payable, ensuring accurate coding, timely invoice processing, and vendor payment
Reconcile corporate credit card charges and review employee expense reports (e.g., via Concur)
Maintain financial data in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Enterprise)
Support budgeting processes and prepare ad-hoc financial analyses as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3+ years of public accounting experience, or 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Access, Excel)
Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise or other Accounting software
Experience with SAP Concur, or similar expense reporting solutions
Experience with Visual Basic, PowerQuery, and Power BI or other business intelligence or analytical tools
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and interface effectively with a small, cross-functional team
