Job Description
To assist and support the Property Controller in maintaining control over revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities of the Hilton Columbus by providing direct supervision and training to accounting staff members, as well as ensuring that all financial record keeping and reporting functions are accomplished in accordance with company policies, procedures, and requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Preparing and/or reviewing daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports in accordance with reporting calendars and ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of these reports. Knowledge of Income Audits and Night Audit procedures.
Hiring, training, evaluating and directing the performance of the accounting team members. Participate in conducting annual performance reviews.
Supervise the processing of biweekly payroll, verifying input to supporting documentation and coordinating submission to Corporate Office.
Respond to guest inquiries via phone and e-mail; e-mail guest folios as requested.
Responsible for accounting computer systems, file data backup, and organization of files.
Maintaining control over the record keeping function to include:
A. Reconciliation of some balance sheet and general ledger account balances.
B. Preparation and review of information to be posted to subsidiary and general ledgers.
C. Coordinating monthly general ledger closing, journal entry preparation.
D. Ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with accepted accounting principles, internal policies, and procedures.
E. Manage chargeback inquiries by providing merchants with rebuttal documentation.
Prepare tax workbook of valid tax-exempt revenue.
Supervision over Accounts Payable and Receivable.
Conduct a monthly departmental meeting.
Serves as a point of contact for internal operations.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or any other combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Four-year college degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five years’ experience in a position of accounting responsibility, preferably with a complex corporate property.
Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates.
CPR certified preferred
Grooming: All team members must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance (Specific standards available in Team Member Handbook).
Other: Additional language ability preferred.
