Job Description
We are looking for a seasoned Delaware licensed creditors’ rights attorney with 8 + years’ experience. Managing attorneys are responsible for oversight and handling of creditors’ rights work including foreclosure, litigation and bankruptcy. Ensures clear objectives, including short- and long-term priorities.
Communicates regularly with Operations, Executives, Attorneys and other colleagues by providing updates, changes, statuses, issues, and developments.
Immediately reports conflicts, reputational issues and potential liability matters to clients and S&E management.
Keeps current on legal, regulatory and ethical developments relating to the state and escalates internally as necessary to assure compliance
Case Management, Client Service and Compliance
Provides litigation oversight, including new case evaluations, ongoing reviews, case assignments, internal quality audits, trial strategies and final review of all cases designated for trial.
Partners with Managing Paralegal to ensure cases are managed and billed appropriately and that changes are effectively implemented.
Serves as co-counsel with other legal staff and/or outside counsel on litigation.
Utilizes on-line and other references to research and analyze statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, codes and the like.
Ensures coverage for attendance at hearings, settlement conferences and other appearances as necessary.
Provides internal and external training as required for effective client service and business growth.
Reviews case management system reports to ensure integrity standards are achieved and upheld.
Supervision of Associates
Collaborates with direct reports in developing objectives and other standards.
Holds direct reports accountable for a high level of client service, including timely response, good scorecards, effective representation of client interests consistent with client requirements across all lines of business.
Uses familiarity of client expectations to ensure that attorneys provide excellent customer service in full compliance with client standards.
Formally evaluates direct reports annually; provides formal and informal feedback on-going and as needed.
Recommends compensation changes.
Fosters a supportive work environment.
Other Responsibilities and Duties as May Be Assigned
Minimum Qualifications
J.D from an ABA accredited law school
Bar Admission active and in good standing in the required State(s) of practice
At least 8 years practice in the required state.
Knowledge of laws related to practice areas, legal codes and court procedures.
At least 8 years of third-party creditor’s rights experience with lenders and mortgage servicers
Minimum 2 years’ experience managing other attorneys,
Experience in various client systems used in default servicing case management, such as BKFS Loansphere, Tempo, and Vendorscape, preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with Sr. Leadership across firm.
Case Management Software experience.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills to communicate with other attorneys, staff and clients.
Outstanding organizational skills.
Ability to handle a large volume of cases
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Outlook and Word
