Principal Project Engineer
Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise and leadership for complex substation projects
Lead Engineering Excellence: Design, develop, and implement all engineering facets of substation projects, including equipment design, contractor coordination, and testing.
Set Performance Standards: Analyze operational and test data to establish benchmarks for newly designed or modified equipment, ensuring compliance with performance specifications.
Be a Design Authority: Serve as the go-to expert for resolving design issues, providing leadership and consultation across divisions.
Drive Collaboration: Lead significant design projects by coordinating efforts with internal teams, external contractors, and other divisions.
Provide Technical Training: Conduct training sessions to share knowledge and enhance team expertise in products, technologies, and best practices.
Consult and Innovate: Review and define the scope of development tasks, provide input for company development planning, and serve as the technical consultant for complex challenges.
Plan and Prioritize: Establish schedules, prioritize tasks, and assign staffing resources with the Engineering Manager to ensure successful project execution.
Support Proposals: Prepare time and manpower estimates for engineering efforts on proposals and project orders.
Qualifications
Educational Excellence: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with 10+ years of experience in project-based environments.
Substation Expertise: Advanced knowledge of substation theory, applications, subsystems, field installation, and testing.
Tech-Savviness: Proficiency in CAD, engineering analysis software, and MS Office tools for design and project management.
Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, prioritize tasks, and collaborate across diverse groups.
Customer Focus: Strong interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively communicate with customers and represent the company professionally.
