Experience Required:

• 4 Year Engineering Degree with demonstrated CAD capability (SolidWorks). Relevant experience may be substituted for
Degree.
• Preferred knowledge in structural design, mechanical deign, mechanical systems and material properties.
• Demonstrates / documents experience in advanced design projects.
• Design and analysis experience in the firearms industry strongly preferred. This should include analyzing, interpreting and
applying professional engineering principles and practices. Candidate should be able to model components on CAD systems,
create drawings and components specifications that meet design objectives and are manufacturable.
• Microsoft Package (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.)
Special Skills:
• Stress and Thermal Analysis Modeling
• Materials and Metallurgy (material selection, heat treat & finishing)
• Interior and Exterior Ballistics Preferred
• Firearm Design Preferred
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Support Knight’s Armament Company by designing and conducting analysis on firearms; ammunition handling systems and firearm accessories with the intent on providing new products for KAC. Perform professional engineering and related administrative work involving research, design, analysis, construction and related activities of a subject matter area specific to the practice of engineering for Knight Enterprises Management, LLC. Expected to devise new approaches to problems encountered and use a broad knowledge of precedents of the engineering discipline.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:
• Support mechanical design and analysis of wide range of mechanical structures, system and other components.
• Develop design concepts on 3-D CAD system (SolidWorks) and perform static, dynamic and stress analysis to validate
concept.
• Develops and creates virtual models to analyze designs using finite element analysis or dynamic simulation.
• Use knowledge of material and material properties to assist in stress analysis, failure, deformation, stiffness, springs, pressure
vessels, beams, bearings.
• Develop, direct, coordinate and conduct test procedures and testing to validate concepts. Preparation and participation in
testing and verification (shock, vibration, thermal cycling).
• Use application of scientific / mathematical analytic principles and processes to reveal properties and state of system, device
or mechanism under study.
• Program and run programs such as MATLAB, LabVIEW ANSYS, and similar programs.
• Gather relevant data and verify accuracy of data for cause of analysis and produce data to assist in changes to resolve any
discrepancies in designs.
• Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice,but may include a variety of complex features, such as
conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and difficult coordination requirements.
• Develops and implements research and development procedures and techniques. Assists in development of products and
procedures.
• Solicit input of perceived / actual needs / ideas for developing new product / program.
• Record and present required data from measurements and observations in organized and legible manner, as well as
producing clear concise reports when required.
• May oversee the manufacturing of prototypes, managing overall project so that all required prototype components are
available to meet project schedules.
• Chair and participate in design reviews, assuring that products meet overall design objectives and are producible, have no
safety flaws and are saleable.
• Plans, schedules, conducts / coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work. This could be as part of a major project or a
total project of moderate scope.
• Work independently or in teams. Will need to coordinate and communicate regularly with management, engineers, and
other departments providing periodic progress updates and results from analysis.
• Work may include being a design lead or project manager over projects and other times participate as a team member.
• Work alongside management, engineers, and other departments to develop and optimize designs, engineering process's,
analyze quality issues and support development of technologies.
• Will be expected to independently evaluate, select and adapt situations and modify techniques, procedures and criteria to
solve problems encountered.
• May participate in testing of ammo / weapons / accessories and follow firearm safety procedures and maintain security of
weapons.
• Provides technical assistance to staff, contractors, vendors, State, County, and City officials in the application and
interpretation of engineering standard.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

• Maintain the confidentially of Knights Enterprises designs, data procedures and process.
