Primary Purpose:

Oversee and ensure effective and efficient implementation of all district-wide visual and performing arts programs through collaborative work with campus fine arts department chairs and elementary fine arts teachers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification

Master's degree from an accredited university with a major in assigned subject or closely related field preferred

Administrator or mid-management certification

Valid Texas Teacher certification preferred or 3 years' experience in a related position

Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable (fee approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to maintain confidential information

Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an internal team, as well as in collaboration with campus and community partners

Ability to communicate effectively interpersonally and in group presentations

Self-directed and results-oriented

Adhere to program compliance requirements

Able to manage budgets and accounts for grant activities and submit timely and accurate reports

Ability to work with little supervision

Ability to simultaneously plan for the long-term and meet short-term goals

Ability to maintain a rigorous schedule and gather, collect and classify data

Ability to maintain accurate records, disaggregating and analyzing date, developing and maintaining spreadsheets, monitoring and updating databases

Knowledge of Microsoft application (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Experience:

Three (3) years as a classroom teacher

Three (3) years facilitating professional development and/or programming in an area of fine arts.

Project/program management or grant coordination experience preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties:

The administrator promotes improvement of instruction through activities such as the following:

Supervise curriculum development and instructional delivery

Supervises district fine arts department chairs and elementary fine arts teachers through instructional and program management needs

Works collaboratively with administrators and teachers for instructional improvement, program continuity, and coordinate alignment of district and campus calendars.

Assists in planning and implementing effective staff development and training for District employees.

Provides materials and other resources to fine arts teachers.

Provides instructional management assistance in content and methodology to teachers.

Participates in and serves as a resource for fine arts curriculum planning. Organization Climate

The director fosters a positive school or organization morale through activities such as the following:

Works with district fine arts department chairs and elementary fine arts teachers to assess and plan improvement of the school, school district, or community environment

Promotes a positive and caring climate

Uses effective communication skills Organization Improvement:

The director promotes leadership in efforts to improve the school or organization through activities such as the following:

Conduct weekly campus walkthroughs and use data for program improvement

Facilitate independent evaluations

Facilitate final yearly report and term reports

Lead professional development and facilitate fine arts department meetings

Participate in C&I meetings and collaborate with C&I Coordinators and staff Communication and Community Relations:

The director promotes a positive tone for school or community relations through activities such as the following:

Serve as primary communication link with principals and school staff

Develop partnerships with community organizations and service providers

Problem solves with program staff, parents, and district administration

Provide instruction in form of policy and regulations interpretation and technical assistance to staff through discussion and written memoranda

Receive, address, and respond to correspondence and telephone calls from

District employees, outside organizations, and the public regarding programs, problems, concerns, and questions

Maintain an open line of communication and availability with district fine arts department chairs, elementary fine arts teachers, and administrators Personnel Relations/Management

The director manages personnel effectively through activities such as the following:

Hire, train, manage, evaluate fine arts department chairs and elementary fine arts teachers in conjunction with campus leadership

Assist fine arts department chairs and elementary fine arts teachers by making recommendations for campus staffing needs to administration

Establish basic responsibilities among staff for organized workflow and problem solving, adjusting as necessary

Train and supervise fine arts department chairs and elementary fine arts teachers in development of classes and activities to meet campus and community needs Organization Management

The director manages administrative, fiscal, and facilities functions responsibly through activities such as the following:

Supervise fine arts department chairs and elementary fine arts teachers development, implementation, and evaluation

Oversight and supervision of fine arts department chairs and elementary fine arts teachers

Assist with fine arts budgets

Approve appropriate expenditure requests (purchase requisitions including vendor agency contracts, supplies, transportation, etc.)

Supervise preparation of necessary reports, processing of payroll, preparation of financial information, tracking attendance, ordering supplies, and record keeping through various data collection systems.

Assure that fine arts department chairs and elementary fine arts teachers and staff are following District, Federal, State, County and City guidelines

Review data reports weekly, monthly and provide updates to administration

Oversee program calendars

Organize timelines for projects

Negotiate contracts and Memoranda of Understanding with vendors Develop, assess, amend, and update Standard Operating Processes and procedures

Align program goals with community/district/campus goals Professional Growth and Development

The director provides leadership in professional growth and development through activities such as the following:

Participate in professional organizations and take the initiative to develop needed professional skills appropriate to job assignment.

Disseminate ideas and information to other professionals. Qualities of an Effective Director

Complies with district and campus policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations

Complies with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, or standards

Maintains confidentiality

Demonstrates a high level of personal integrity, a collaborative leadership style, and high ethical standards

Remains informed of and complies with state, district, and campus policies affecting schools

Regularly compiles, maintains and files all reports, records, and other required documents

Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job Supervisory Responsibilities:

Assist with the supervision of fine arts teachers who receive the fine arts stipend Equipment:

Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, printer, scanner, calculator, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to the position Working Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Work irregular and extended work hours to include holidays and weekends

Frequent district wide travel; may work prolonged hours

Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress

Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching

Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
