Seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as the Director of Student Teaching in the Department of Education.
This position is designed for individuals who have a passion for the field of education and K-12 teaching.
The role of Director of Student Teaching is a pivotal one, responsible for, among other things, coordinating placements, hiring and training supervisors, monitoring student teacher progress, and designing and implementing targeted Seminars of Support!
As the final "touchpoint" with the College, they represent the capstone experience for students.
The position requires a high level of confidentiality, attention-to-detail, organizational skills, and professional behavior.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Liaise with school districts and teacher candidates to secure undergraduate (and graduate, as needed) student teaching placements in alignment with teacher candidates' areas of license ● Coordinate all communications related to student teaching● Plan and facilitate student teaching orientations, mock interviews, annual education career fair, and end-of-semester student teaching celebrations and honors ● Recruit, train, assign, and evaluate University Supervisors ● Manage communications with host/cooperating teachers ● Update and distribute Student Teaching Handbooks for teacher candidates, host/cooperating teaching, and University Supervisors● Distribute and manage surveys (teacher candidates, host/cooperating teachers, University Supervisors, principals)● Attend and participate in monthly department meetings ● Ability to use technology Minimum Qualifications: ● Bachelor's Degree required, master's degree preferred ● A demonstrated record of successful teaching experience in K-12 education for a minimum of 5 years ● Strong understanding of evidence-based and inclusive practices in planning, teaching, and assessment ● Attention to detail ● Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
