Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Chief Estimator & Bid Coordinator to join our dynamic team at a nationally recognized General Contracting firm. This individual will play a critical role in the preconstruction and bidding process for complex, turnkey commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of commercial construction practices and be capable of managing the estimation and bidding process from concept through final proposal.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the end-to-end bidding and estimating process for commercial construction projects across the nation.

Interpret and analyze complex commercial construction blueprints, specifications, and project documents.

Develop detailed and accurate scopes of work for all major trades and project phases.

Coordinate all aspects of bid solicitation, including pre-bid meetings, RFI tracking, and subcontractor outreach.

Analyze and compare subcontractor bids for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project scopes and requirements.

Prepare comprehensive bid packages and proposals in a timely manner, ensuring alignment with client requirements and project goals.

Perform and oversee quantity takeoffs for major systems and trades, as needed.

Maintain and build relationships with subcontractors and vendors across multiple regions.

Collaborate with project management and field teams to ensure alignment between estimation and execution.

Provide feedback on cost trends, market conditions, and value engineering opportunities.

Support post-bid activities, including scope clarifications, negotiations, and handoffs to the project team.

Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial construction estimation, preferably with a national general contractor.

Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and best practices.

Proven ability to read, interpret, and analyze complex blueprints and technical documents.

Proficient in developing detailed scopes of work and bid analysis.

Skilled in construction estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, Sage Estimating).

Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred but not required based on experience.Company Description
