Normal Work Schedule: Flexible; up to 40 hours per week during summer

Job Summary: The Student FOLIO Programmer Assistant supports the University Libraries websites and web applications.

Additional Department Summary: The University Libraries will place the Student FOLIO Programmer Assistant in a position to learn and use specific skills valued in the field of web application programming. The skills the Student Assistant will learn will increase their marketability to organizations outside the University of Alabama, especially post-graduation. Past Student FOLIO Programmer Assistants have acquired excellent jobs, prior to graduation, specifically based on the skills they were able to learn, practice, and use in this position.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama undergraduate student enrolled in the fall semester. Java, JS, application programming, testing procedures, GitHub, virtual machines/Docker experience. Located in Tuscaloosa/Birmingham area over the summer.

Preferred Qualifications: General experience with HTML5, CSS3, Sass, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL for developing and maintaining WP themes and sites. Experience with repository (Git) work on GitHub (hooks, merging, approving). Experience with Unit testing (Jest, etc.), Smell tests, xSmoke tests (Karate), Cypress Tests, Testrails test writing. Experience with a JS-based web application framework (or any) such as Angular/Bootstrap, or React, and the package management tools for these libraries/frameworks. Considerable experience developing with JAVA.

Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
