Sr. Controls Specialist

Key Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, and program control systems including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo motors, motor control systems, and field devices.

Perform scheduled, unscheduled, and preventive/predictive maintenance on equipment and systems.

Conduct electrical repairs such as motor wiring, starter fuses, and basic electrical troubleshooting.

Provide technical guidance to management on controls, electrical design, construction, and maintenance.

Investigate control system issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.

Develop and maintain process control and electrical engineering documentation, standards, and specifications.

Lead the implementation of process control and electrical engineering projects.

Oversee contractors and vendors related to controls and electrical systems.

Communicate project status, timelines, and budgets with stakeholders.

Serve as the subject matter expert for process controls and electrical engineering.

Review and approve technical drawings and specifications.

Identify and implement opportunities to reduce facility operating costs through process improvements.

Stay current with industry trends and best practices in controls and automation.

Ensure compliance with GMP, safety regulations, and company standards.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred

5–8 years of experience in multi-disciplinary technical roles within the food industry

Strong knowledge of HMI and ControlLogix programming.

Proficient in reading one-line diagrams and electrical schematics.

Hands-on experience with motor and VFD control, instrumentation, and field devices
