Quality Control Manager Job Description

Responsible for implementing the corporate quality control program on assigned project. Responsible for ensuring necessary supervision, controls, and testing of all items of work, including that of the suppliers and subcontractors, is compliant with contract documents. Reports to the project manager.

Key Duties / Responsibilities of Quality Control Manager

Directs the performance of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Three-Phase Control procedures

Daily inspections and review of all materials, workmanship, and safety to ensure compliance with E-Corp and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers policy, procedures, and specifications

Develops, submits, and implements quality control (QC) plans

Conducts specification reviews, develops project QC plans, generates material submittals, develops and reviews and stamps mix designs, reviews quality data and inspections, and manages QC / quality assurance (QA) subcontractors to assure timely project success

Manages daily preventive and corrective safety and QC activities

Conducts regular QC and safety meetings

Performs submittal review and certification

Ensures required testing is performed

Prepares QC certifications and required documentation

Attends all progress meetings and prepares all daily reporting

Prepares and tracks the project schedule and updates as required

Communicates with client, company personnel, and subcontractors daily

Investigates project safety, quality control, and construction issues, concerns, and deficiencies and recommends and implements corrective action

Verifies and inspects all work pre-construction, construction, and post construction

Directs and supervises subcontractor workforce, scheduling, task management, and problem resolution

Records, tracks, and documents rework items

Education / Experience

A minimum of 5 years of experience as a QC or QA manager & 7 years in the construction industry

High school diploma or equivalent

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience working on federal projects

QCM (Quality Control Management) Certificate from US Army Corps of Engineers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook and Adobe Acrobat

Strong background in concrete, electrical, structural, mechanical, general trades, etc.

Familiar with ground-up construction drawings and specifications

Thorough knowledge of legal issues and safety / OSHA and QC standards

Ability to speak and write clearly; ability to proofread writing for spelling and grammar errors

Attention to detail

Good client management

Effective time management and logical decision-making ability

Capacity to handle pressure

Strong focus on quality

Ability to analyze and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner

Additional Requirements / Details

Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen

Must be willing to travel

Must be willing to complete OSHA 30 training upon selection

Must be willing to complete U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management training upon selection

A project list must be included with your application

Compensation: $100,000- $125,000, annually

Location: Tucson, AZ

Travel Required: Yes, local and national 50%
