CarbonFree in San Antonio is looking for a Lab Technician to support our company as it grows. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: running and maintaining an ICP-OES, GC and other lab analytical instruments, performing titrations on products and environmental samples, and be familiar with particle analysis equipment and methods such as laser diffraction and sieve testing. This role will report directly to our Lab Manager.

What You’ll Do

Accurately prepare samples from raw material, in-process, and finished products

Accurately test and evaluate results for product performance using ICP-OES

Be able to prepare dilutions from stock solutions, perform wet chemistry titrations and interpret test results.

Maintain and operate laboratory instruments including an ICP-OES instrument, GC, laser diffraction particle analysis, sieve shakers, IC, autotitrators, and UV-VIS spectrophotometer

Be able to generate certificate of analysis (CoAs) on finished products

Ability to manage time to provide results in a timely manner

Ability to understand the methods and instruments in the lab for on-the-spot troubleshooting

Read, understand and utilize standard operating procedures and methods

Maintain SDS for raw materials and products

Prepare samples for submission to outside testing laboratories

Complete quality checks on finished products

Be able to communicate lab test results effectively to operations, engineering, sales and customer service departments.

Who You Are

BS degree in Chemistry with no experience, or 1+ yrs. of experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory with some completed college chemistry coursework, or 3+ yrs. of experience in a chemical laboratory.

ICP-OES and knowledge of LIMS or LIMS-type systems are a must with GC experience preferred.

Ability to work a rotating shift.

Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are also required.

General understanding of good laboratory practices (GLP), excellent attention to detail and the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
