Position Overview

The Manager of Donor Relations, Content Strategy and Design, plays a critical role in developing the communications that foster strong relationships with donors and prospects. This position requires a dynamic leader who can articulate the mission and values of the organization to current and potential donors while managing the overall philanthropic communications strategy. This role is pivotal in providing leadership and direction to the support and/or operations staff in the Office of Philanthropy and as needed to the development staff, enabling the department to operate and successfully raise funds needed to support projects and initiatives of Scouting America. You will be responsible for managing and mentoring team members to ensure effective collaboration, efficient processes, and clear communication with key stakeholders and partners across fundraising, marketing, development services, alumni, web, and multimedia teams.

To be successful in this role, you must be able to collaborate and build metrics teams across the organization. You must also be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite. Responsibilities

Lead the strategy, development, design, and execution of donor engagement communications, philanthropic marketing assets, stewardship materials, and fundraising collateral that inspire support for Scouting America.

Manage and mentor team members to ensure effective collaboration, efficient processes, and clear communication with key stakeholders and partners across fundraising, marketing, development services, alumni, web, and multimedia teams.

Ensure all creative assets and messaging align with Scouting America’s brand standards, donor-centered strategies, and strategic fundraising priorities.

Translate donor insights, feedback, and giving trends into compelling communication strategies, materials, and experiences that cultivate, steward, and retain philanthropic donors.

Oversee the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive library of donor stewardship assets, including photos, videos, print/digital materials, and proposal templates.

Direct the production of philanthropic publications, event materials, case statements, stewardship campaigns, and donor impact reports.

Manage external vendors providing creative services such as printing, video production, and graphic design.

Drive process improvements to enhance the quality, efficiency, and strategic impact of donor communications, approval workflows, and impact reporting.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of 6 years of philanthropic operational experience (e.g. administration, project management, donor research, donor relations, donor events, and gift proposal formation for philanthropic donors and prospective donors, etc.).

Must be able to travel up to 20%.

Advertising agency experience is a plus.

Must pass a criminal history background check.

Experience with CRM systems, including Blackbaud CRM preferred.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Design, English, or a related field.

Advanced degree preferred (e.g., Master’s in Strategic Communication, Nonprofit Management, or Philanthropy) or equivalent experience in donor communications and visual storytelling.
