With a growing portfolio of clients, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Air Quality Engineer to head our Air Quality Group and drive client success.

Role Overview:

As the Lead Air Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and expanding our Air Quality practice. This includes leading permitting efforts for industrial and commercial clients, overseeing compliance programs, conducting regulatory audits, and supervising a team of air quality professionals. You will also represent AARC in reviewing and approving air permit applications submitted to a large county client, ensuring they meet local, state, and federal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the preparation and submission of air quality permits (e.g., NSR, Title V, PBRs) to state and federal agencies.

Interpret and apply regulations under the Clean Air Act and relevant state air regulations.

Oversee compliance services including emission calculations, recordkeeping systems, deviation reporting, and compliance certification.

Conduct Gap audits and risk assessments to identify non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.

Manage client relationships and lead strategic meetings and technical presentations.

Review and approve air permit applications on behalf of a large county client in accordance with applicable rules.

Supervise and mentor a team of engineers and scientists in the air quality division.

Support business development through proposal writing, scoping meetings, and client engagement.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or a related field.

8+ years of experience in air permitting and compliance consulting, including experience with industrial and governmental clients.

PE license preferred but not required.

Deep knowledge of TCEQ, EPA, and state-specific air quality regulatory programs.

Excellent communication and client management skills.

Experience managing technical teams and complex, multi-site air quality programs.
