What You Can Expect
As our Engineering Advisor I&C (Instrumentation and Controls), you will be a part of the Engineering Team within the Capital Projects structure and will report to the Director of Engineering. This individual will be responsible for leading and delivering on all aspects of controls and instrumentation engineering scope as related to operations and maintenance of existing assets and design, specifying and engineering of new capital and brownfield projects.
You will serve to complete and assure designs run through our internal engineering firm, which once validated is provided to installation contractors, interconnecting utilities, permitting authorities, clients, and building owners on capital projects. The Senior Engineer will also be the liaison with other technical centers of excellence within the global ENGIE organization and manage these relationships and engagements.
You will:
Prepare instrumentation diagrams, process control narratives, instrument lists, and input/output lists as part of project design and ongoing maintenance
Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies to maintain project cost & schedule
Provide technical support to stakeholders as required
Troubleshoot equipment and software to repair and diagnose any malfunctions in the system including continuously maintaining and upgrading the SCADA systems
Monitor data communication and troubleshoot PLC circuits
Monitor I&C systems for cyber-attacks that could alter or damage the plant or manufacturing facility
Write and review sequences of operation (SOO) for plant and building equipment and systems
Develop control systems for various utility processes, including electrical power generation, utility distribution networks and accessories
Provide expert input on the design, installation, and commissioning of plant control systems and associated instrumentation for new capital projects and on-campus integration (utilities, district energy systems, combined heat and power)
Handle projects that involve multiple applications, including SCADA, device controls and sensors, communications networks, and related systems
Oversee and assure engineering contractor I&C work progress, ensuring compliance with project schedules, quality standards, and applicable codes.
Frame overall network architecture including redundancy, loops
Choose appropriate sensors and actuators to accurately measure and control critical parameters like voltage, pressure, temperature, flow rate
Review instrumentation for adequate redundancy to meet operating reliability requirements and control logics enabling effective operations and controls
Complete a review of the process automation as it relates to manual intervention during a plant upset and determine if adequate automation is in place to ensure continuous supply for utilities
Oversee system integration of different components of the control system, including field devices, communication networks, and operator interface stations
Lead basis of arguments for overhaul, repair, upgrade control systems, cables and components for performance enhancements with campuses
Facilitate communication platforms between the Central Utility Plant, Substation, campus networks, and grid operator
Support the commissioning process for the control system, ensuring all components function as designed
Collaborate with contractors to resolve issues during construction, commissioning and post-commissioning phases
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline
Minimum 7 years of experience in design, inspection, operations, and troubleshooting of control systems used in power generation and/or district energy plants, including emissions control and boiler, chiller and turbine controls
Understanding of control loop design and implementation to optimize operational efficiency within district energy utility plants and distribution systems
Proven expertise in plant control and automation systems (PLC, DCS), networking communications, programming languages and advanced field instrumentation
Familiarity with SCADA, HMI design and PI, Web CTRL Building Energy Modelling / automation systems (BAS) and fault detection diagnostic (FDD) systems
Knowledge of industry standards UL, IEC, ISO IEEE and other design codes
Ability to handle multiple assignments, high degree of accuracy and independence

This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
Must be available to travel domestically up to 25% of the time
Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license
Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
This position consists of 30% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
Compensation
Salary Range: $113, 900 – $174,570 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
