JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of this position will be to
support manufacturing, maintenance, and quality, providing
leadership to capital and facility projects and monitor/
maintain processes. This person will create a system of
processes and procedures for the staff to follow in order to
keep extrusion lines, mixing equipment, and final process
equipment running continuously and efficiently and producing
product that meets quality standards. This person will design, plan
and implement improvements on all aspects of the production
processes to continually improve efficiency. Lean manufacturing
practices, 5S training, six sigma training experience required and
important in your daily functions.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Use Statistical Process Control in the continuous improvement
effort
• Assist in troubleshooting and solve problems of large systems
and processes
• Monitor manufacturing variances so that problem solving, and
improvement opportunities are identified
• Provide timely resolution of product, process and equipment
problems in the form of creative short- and long-term solutions
• Assist in development, testing and improving manufacturing
processes for new and existing products that optimize operation,
reduce product variability, and increase yields
• Develop machine specifications, identify, and evaluate suppliers,
then procure, install and de-bug equipment from outside
supplier for general manufacturing and secondary processes
• Comply with Modern Mill safety policies and procedures
• Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
• Design and manage Gannt-based project schedules for capital
investments
• Coordinate with outside vendors to ensure adherence to capital
project schedules
• Oversee budget planning and execution
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Problem-solving ability, good documentation skills, and preferred
manufacturing practices
• Demonstrated knowledge of CAD, Solidworks or Sketchup
• Capability to produce detailed, to-scale equipment layouts for capital project
planning
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• Engineering Degree. Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
• 2-5 years with Project Management and Manufacturing Engineering
• Plastics or Extrusion Experience a plus
• Drafting (CAD, SolidWorks, Sketchup)
• 3 years of Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Kanban preferred
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Prolong standing or in stationary position
• Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
• Wear all required personal protective equipment
• Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
• Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
• Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
• Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various
environmental conditions
