Position Summary:
The Hardware Test Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing various test processes for robotic, imaging and navigation products. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting the verification of complex electro-mechanical hardware systems to ensure compliance with medical device standards and design requirements.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams including hardware design, software, and systems engineering to ensure our devices are robust, safe, and meet all functional specifications. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives on solving technical challenges in a regulated, high-impact environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and execute verification plans, protocols, and reports in compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, and other regulatory standards.
Design and develop various types of test equipment/procedures to support sub-assembly andsystem testing.
Determine test needs for the entire Product Life Cycle. This includes life, verification and manufacturing test.
Contribute to FMEA reviews and determine tests to support mitigations.
Support New Product Introduction in the areas of Design for testability (DFT) and Design for manufacturability (DFM).
Troubleshoot hardware issues, analyze test data, and work with design teams to resolve root causes of failures.
Maintain traceability between requirements and verification artifacts.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
Implement Automated Test Equipment (ATE) where appropriate.
Supports Production / Manufacturing, internal testing and external customers when presented with quality / support issues. Prioritizes work to identify the root cause and create a corrective plan that ensures timely resolution of issues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Proven experience in hardware verification or validation in the medical device, robotics or Defense industry with a minimum of 3 years
Strong knowledge of electronic test equipment, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
National Instruments Labview, NI TestStand, C, C++, Visual Basic, Python, programming experience preferred.
Familiarity with design control processes, risk management, and medical device regulations (FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485).
Familiarity with IEC60601
Ability to work independently and as a key contributor in small teams.
Excellent oral, written, and graphical communication skills.
Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
