FTE: Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Shift: Days

Pay: $37.04 - $68.07 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

This is a full-time, 100% remote position, scheduled to work Monday through Friday with core hours between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with an on-call rotation. Applicants hired into this position can work from approved states. This will be discussed during the interview process. Candidates will be considered for one of the following levels: Interface Engineer (3 years of relevant experience) or Interface Engineer Senior (5 years of relevant experience).

Summary:Develops, tests, and maintains advanced interfaces between applications. We are seeking a Senior Interface Engineer with strong experience in healthcare interoperability, specifically using Epic Bridges and InterSystems Ensemble HL7. You will be responsible for building and maintaining application-level interfaces that connect our Epic system with external platforms to enable seamless data exchange and support clinical and operational workflows.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain HL7 v2.x interfaces using Epic Bridges and InterSystems Ensemble.

Translate business and clinical requirements into scalable, secure interface solutions.

Configure Epic Bridges for interface setup, including mapping, workflows, and testing.

Develop custom code (where needed) in ObjectScript or Ensemble-supported languages to handle advanced HL7 routing and transformations.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Epic analysts, infrastructure, and clinical informatics teams.

Conduct unit, integration, and regression testing of interface solutions.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize interface performance, availability, and reliability.

Maintain comprehensive interface documentation and participate in change management processes.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

High School diploma or GED.

5 years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

Strong experience with InterSystems Ensemble (or IRIS), HL7 v2.x message types (ADT, ORU, ORM, etc.).

Proficiency in HL7 messaging standards and healthcare workflows.

Experience in at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., ObjectScript, Python, or JavaScript).

Familiarity with interface testing tools and monitoring utilities.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex projects.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

Epic Bridges certification or completion of Epic's relevant training programs.

Proven experience with Epic Bridges, including configuration and troubleshooting.

Experience with FHIR, APIs, X12, or IHE integration standards.

Working knowledge of Epic modules like EpicCare, Beaker, Radiant, or Cupid.

Familiarity with cloud-based integration platforms or data lakes.
