Role and Team
Reporting to the Body Shop or designated Manager, perform body repair and paint work in a production environment. Maintain high standards for efficiency and observe all safety requirements. Perform all additional duties assigned by the manager.
Responsibilities
Remove, repair, or replace damaged parts
Properly fill and sand in preparation for paint process
Use welding, soldering, and cutting torches as required
Perform visual and feel quality inspection prior to the spraying of any product to ensure the vehicle is properly prepped for paint.
Ensure vehicles are properly cleaned and dusted prior to painting
May mask vehicles in preparation for paint process
Auto Paint Tech will refinish and paint repaired exterior panels and new parts according to auction and customer standards.
Communicate with other technicians to meet production goals and customer standards
Clean equipment to ensure proper maintenance
Assist with general shop cleanliness and organization
Provide prompt and courteous service to all. Maintain a professional appearance and neat work environment.
Resolve any customer complaints in a friendly, courteous manner and advise management of all serious complaints or incidents.
Practice and promote teamwork at all times. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.
Inform the Body Shop Supervisor or Manager of all equipment breakdowns and maintenance immediately.
Promote and follow safety policies.
Requires use of safety equipment that may include but not limited to face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, mask, and other protective garments and equipment
Skills and Attributes
Ability to use tools such as heat guns, paint guns, propane torches, plastic scrapers, electric sanders, drills, buffers and air blowers
High attention to detail
Interpersonal skills
Willingness to work in a team environment
Ability to work in a high performing, production environment
Qualifications
High School or GED preferred
1 year of experience in paint and body
Automotive/auction experience preferred
Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license that meets requirements
May be required to provide sufficient tools to perform the job
Basic computer skills
