Position Summary
The Hospice QA Specialist is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and improving the quality of hospice services in alignment with regulatory standards (CMS, CHAP, etc.), internal policies, and best clinical practices. This individual plays a key role in ensuring continuous quality improvement across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor compliance with state, federal, and accrediting body regulations
Conduct chart reviews, audits, and data analysis to identify areas for improvement
Develop and implement Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) plans
Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to implement corrective actions
Facilitate internal audits and support survey readiness activities
Assist with staff training on quality and compliance issues
Generate and present reports on performance metrics, trends, and outcomes
Qualifications
RN or equivalent clinical background strongly preferred
Minimum 2 years of hospice
Knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation for Hospice
Experience with QAPI, compliance audits, and accreditation standards
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Proficiency in EMR and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Certification in Healthcare Quality (e.g., CPHQ)
Familiarity with CHAP or Joint Commission accreditation
