Job Description:

SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking a full-time Computer Science Instructor to join the Division of Math, Science, Technology and Health. Reporting to the Dean, the faculty member will teach courses in Computer Information System, Computer Science, and Programming for Game Development programs, and work with the division to promote the Programming in Game Development aspect of the program, and develop industry partnerships. Ideal candidates will bring professional experience working in 2D and 3D environments, and a broad range of technical and creative skills. A candidate's ability to bring relevance to the classroom through their professional experiences is highly desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach full-time courses in Computer Science, Computer Information System, and Programming in Game Development

Coordinate program offerings and facilitate partnerships to grow and expand the program for Gaming Design and Implementation

Keep the program updated and relevant with innovative ideas and practices

Hold regularly scheduled office hours to provide student support

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Computer Science, Animation, Game Design or related discipline OR a Master's degree and 18 graduate credit hours in Computer Science, Animation, Game Design, or related discipline.

Experience and ability to teach courses in the following languages (e.g., C#, C++, Java, Java Script, HTML, SQL, Python)

Knowledge of the importance the gaming industry has in society.

Strong communication and interpersonal skill

The ability to create inclusive and engaging learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency using game engine Unity 3D or similar environments

Professional experience in Computer Science & Computer Information Systems or related field is highly desirable.

Experience in 2D design and 3D modeling of game assets.

At least one year of experience in teaching, preferably at the community college level and/or using a hybrid model

Experience with online instruction
