Until Filled The North Plainfield School District, a culturally diverse school district in Somerset County serving 3,700 students Pre-K through grade 12, seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative professional for the position of Supervisor of Science, Technology, and Engineering for the North Plainfield School District.
Qualifications:
Valid New Jersey CE or Standard certification as Supervisor, School Administrator, or Principal Certificate required
Valid New Jersey certification as Teacher of Biological Science, Teacher of Chemistry, or Teacher of Physical Science preferred.
Deep understanding of research-based instructional practices and pedagogical approaches specific to science, technology, and engineering education.
Demonstrated success in designing and implementing curriculum aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) with a focus on student-centered, inquiry-based instruction.
Proven leadership in advancing teaching and learning through curriculum integration, instructional innovation, and professional learning.
Strong ability to plan, organize, and facilitate high-impact professional development focused on improving instructional practice in science, technology, and engineering classrooms.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with school leaders, department heads, and instructional staff to design and refine a cohesive, vertically and horizontally aligned K-12 science, technology, and engineering curriculum that reflects best practices in instruction and supports diverse learners.
Leads the continuous evaluation and improvement of instructional programs and practices in alignment with district goals and NJSLS, recommending innovative teaching strategies and resources as needed.
Serves as the instructional leader for science, technology, and engineering by facilitating curriculum design teams, overseeing instructional resource adoption, and ensuring coherence in content delivery across grade levels.
Provides leadership and coordination for sustained, job-embedded professional development that supports educators in delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and fosters pedagogical growth.
Supports classroom instruction through frequent observation, coaching, and constructive feedback to teachers, with a focus on instructional effectiveness, student engagement, and academic outcomes.
Collaborates with school counseling, special education, and ELL teams to ensure curriculum access and instructional equity for all students, including those with unique learning needs.
Analyzes instructional data and assessment outcomes to identify trends, inform curriculum adjustments, and support school improvement efforts related to student achievement in science, technology, and engineering.
Facilitates the implementation of curriculum-based professional learning communities (PLCs) and content-specific teacher collaboration to improve instructional practice and student outcomes.
Prepares and presents updates to the Board of Education, parents, and the broader school community to promote understanding and support for district STEM initiatives and instructional priorities.
Guides the selection and adoption of instructional materials and digital resources that enhance curriculum delivery and promote advanced learning skills.
Participates in state and national professional networks to stay current with educational research, instructional trends, and curriculum innovations in STEM education.
Oversees the instructional budget related to science, technology, and engineering programs, ensuring strategic allocation of resources that support high-quality teaching and learning.
Engages in the recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring of instructional staff, promoting excellence in classroom practice and curriculum leadership.
Makes certain all laboratory and technology classrooms are compliant with appropriate safety protocols, all teaching staff, support staff, and students are appropriately trained for safety, and maintain compliance.
Performs other instructional and curriculum-related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Salary Range: 109,767(minimum) 151,947(maximum) commensurate with experience.
