Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer 5 with a strong background in power electronics to join a leading engineering team in Mossville, IL. This long-term, onsite opportunity offers the chance to work on cutting-edge technologies involving inverter and converter systems across multiple vehicle platforms. Candidates must have a passion for hands-on work in test validation, prototyping, and system optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development of test plans, validation procedures, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with functional and performance specifications.
Design, model, and simulate power electronics systems, including AC-DC and DC-DC converters and inverters.
Build, test, debug, and optimize hardware prototypes for power electronics systems.
Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, PCB layout, and firmware engineers during the design and validation process.
Conduct root cause analysis using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and thermal cameras.
Perform system validation under various environmental and operating conditions (e.g., voltage, temperature, load, EMI/EMC).
Work closely with suppliers and internal teams on DFT (Design for Testability) and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) best practices.
Ensure adherence to rigorous safety standards during high-voltage testing. Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in power electronics testing and validation.
Proficient with converter/inverter prototyping, debugging, and test bench operation.
Solid understanding of DC-DC converters, AC-DC inverters, magnetics, and control algorithms.
Skilled in the use of lab instruments and data acquisition systems.
Experience with simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice).
Familiarity with relevant standards (UL, IEC, ISO) for power electronics systems. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with automated test systems and scripting.
Knowledge of EMI/EMC testing, thermal management, and environmental validation.
Understanding of embedded systems and microcontroller-based control strategies. Team & Project Environment:
