Job Title: Project Engineer - Traffic / Transportation Engineering (Hybrid)

Department: Transportation Engineering

Location: Boston, Massachusetts (Hybrid)Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work on a variety of projects, including roadway and intersection reconstructions, as well as bicycle and pedestrian facilities for both public-sector and private clients. You will be involved in preparing and reviewing traffic impact assessments, functional design reports, traffic circulation and parking studies, signage and pavement marking plans, and traffic management plans.As a Project Engineer, you will contribute to the development of resilient, sustainable infrastructure that provides reliable access for all modes of travel. You will also play an integral role in creating public spaces and facilities that positively impact both human and natural environments.Key Responsibilities:

Traffic Engineering: Manage and contribute to the design of roadway and intersection reconstruction projects, along with pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure.

Technical Reports: Prepare and review traffic impact assessments, functional design reports, and traffic circulation and parking studies to ensure compliance with industry standards and client expectations.

Traffic Analysis: Use traffic analysis software such as Synchro, HCS, and other tools to assess and improve traffic flow and manage congestion.

Design Plans: Develop signage and pavement marking plans, and traffic signal and traffic management plans for various infrastructure projects.

Collaboration: Work closely with senior project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions to our clients.

Client Interaction: Engage directly with clients, providing technical expertise and ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Management: Contribute to the creation of project estimates and specifications, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.Qualifications:Must Have's/Non-Negotiables:

B.S. in Civil Engineering

4-10 years of related experience in traffic engineering

Proficiency in traffic analysis software (e.g., Synchro, HCS)

EIT certification or ability to take the FE exam within six months of hire

Strong AutoCAD Civil3D experience, particularly on MassDOT projects

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Highly motivated, responsible individual with a strong work ethicPreferred Qualifications:

PE certification or the ability to obtain within a specified timeframe

PTOE certification (Preferred but not required)Key Skills & Competencies:

Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze traffic data, identify patterns, and suggest improvements.

Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of traffic engineering principles, design, and traffic modeling software.

Communication: Excellent ability to communicate technical concepts to clients, team members, and stakeholders.

Project Management: Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and client satisfaction are met.

Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to develop integrated solutions.
