Job Description
Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention advocacy group, is seeking a Summer 2025 Research Intern. The Research Department studies how gun violence occurs in America and identifies the best policies and interventions to prevent and address it. In this role, the Intern will contribute to the research of various types of gun violence, who it impacts, and how it impacts different communities in diverse ways. Interns are expected to work 15 hours per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct and write literature reviews, and critically analyze new research to support both day-to-day and longer-term research on gun violence prevention in the US
Contribute to drafts of analytically rigorous and credible research materials, including memos, factsheets, and blog posts for a wide range of audiences
Collect, clean, and conduct basic data analysis of gun violence-related datasets
Collaborate on the development and execution of online content
Assist the team in routine research administrative tasks, as and when required
Interact regularly with Everytown staff across all departments to ensure effective coordination and delivery of research program activities
Note: Intern may be in-person 1-2 days a week, located in New York City.
The minimum pay rate for this position is $17.00 per hour.
You will have:
Current enrollment in undergraduate studies
Demonstrated ability to write well & produce written materials for non-technical audiences
Exceptional attention to detail
Experience conducting basic data analysis on social science datasets is preferred
Willingness to take initiative on projects
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to a fast-paced environment
Excellent collaboration and communication skills
About the Hiring Process
We are accepting applications on a rolling basis and will review them and reach out to the candidates who meet the requirements of the position.
Candidates who are moved into the recruitment process will receive a request to submit a writing sample, with a maximum length of two pages. Candidates who advance to the next step of the recruitment process will be invited to a 30-minute phone interview with a member of the hiring team.
Candidates who advance to the final stage of the recruitment process will participate in a 30-45 minute virtual interview with two members of the research leadership team.
