This role involves coordinating with various departments, carriers, and customers, preparing shipping documentation, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities: Shipping Execution & Documentation * Coordinate daily outbound shipments of aluminum coils, sheets, and packaged products, ensuring customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
* Create, review, and verify Bills of Lading (BOLs), shipping manifests, and associated documentation for each load.
* Assign shipping numbers and record all necessary product identification (coil ID, packaging codes, weights, grades, dimensions). * Monitor shipment status and coordinate with carriers to avoid delays and misroutes.
ERP & Inventory Systems * Accurately record shipment transactions in the company's ERP system (Blendmaster). * Ensure accurate system movement of inventory from the mill to customer or external warehouse, including inventory deduction and shipment closure.
* Reconcile shipping records and physical movement to maintain inventory accuracy and traceability.
Carrier Coordination & Scheduling * Schedule outbound carriers (truckload, LTL, flatbed, or specialized) in alignment with shipping dock availability and production output.
* Communicate shipping priorities and staging schedules with Logistics and Production teams.
* Work with carrier dispatchers to resolve issues, communicate delays, or re-route trucks.
Compliance & Safety * Ensure all shipments comply with DOT weight restrictions, load securement standards, and company-specific handling procedures.
* Maintain documentation related to hazardous materials (if applicable), special customer handling requirements, and delivery appointments.
Customer & Internal Communication * Serve as the point of contact for internal customer service and sales regarding shipment timing, carrier assignment, and special instructions.
* Notify stakeholders of delays, damages, or discrepancies in shipping execution.
* Coordinate with Customer Service Representatives on rush orders, backorders, or revised delivery dates.
Working Conditions: * Primarily based in the shipping office and warehouse/dock environment within an active manufacturing facility.
* Frequent walking on concrete floors and exposure to warehouse noise, heavy equipment (forklifts, trucks), and aluminum coils.
* Must work on-site with occasional overtime, including weekends and holidays as needed to meet shipment deadlines.
* May be exposed to varying temperatures, especially in non-climate-controlled areas near the production floor.
Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
* Proven experience (typically 2+ years) in a shipping coordinator role or similar position.
* Strong knowledge of shipping processes, procedures, and documentation.
* Familiarity with various shipping methods (e.g., ground, air, sea freight). * Experience with domestic and international shipping regulations and compliance.
* Proficiency in shipping software and carrier platforms (e.g., FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip). * Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). * Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Ability to work in a hot, noisy environment.
* Must be comfortable working in both office and warehouse environments.
* Must have good near, distance, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception.
