Description: Holland & Knight is seeking a Legislative Assistant to join our Public Policy & Regulation ("PP&R") Transportation Team.
We seek candidates with 1-3 years of federal policy experience and a desire to grow expertise on transportation, infrastructure, and technology issues in a dynamic team-based environment.
The candidate's primary role will be to coordinate the Transportation Team's representation of clients on transportation policy, legislative, regulatory, and advocacy issues.
Core Responsibilities Include: * Support engagement on a daily basis with clients in the transportation, infrastructure, and technology from traditional companies to innovative start-ups.
* Support the crafting and execution of complex legislative, regulatory, and political strategies to achieve federal policy goals.
* Arrange, coordinate, and conduct advocacy meetings with Members of Congress, staff and other government officials under the supervision of Transportation Team leaders.
* Actively track key transportation, infrastructure and technology policy issues for clients.
* Track and monitor Congressional committee meetings, agency hearings, and other proceedings as directed.
* Support the organization of fly-in events, including submitting meeting requests, preparing materials, managing attendees, and coordinating event logistics.
* Prepare periodic reports on legislative, regulatory, and other governmental activity for internal use and for the benefit of Transportation Team clients.
* Provide legislative research services for the Transportation Team.
* Coordinate production of other written materials for the Transportation Team.
* Special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: * Ability to work in a team environment.
* 1-3 years of public policy experience in the federal government, policy or government relations experience with a desire to grow expertise in transportation, infrastructure, and technology.
* Strong and clear writing skills and the ability to learn complex legislative and regulatory issues.
* Strong legislative and regulatory research skills, including Congressional and legislative databases, and a general resourcefulness to obtain or retrieve pertinent information.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively with the wide variety of personalities encountered in governmental and political environments.
* Ability to meet competing deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
* Strong organizational ability.
* High proficiency in a computer network environment, especially with the Microsoft Office applications suite.

The base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $82,500/yr.
An individual's actual compensation will depend on the individual's qualifications and experience.
