Michael Baker International has a unique opportunity for qualified Geotechnical Associate candidates with 0-3 years of geotechnical engineering design experience to join the Bridge Department located in our three Eastern PA Offices (Philadelphia, Fort Washington, and Allentown).
The successful candidate will work by applying geotechnical engineering techniques, procedures and principles on a variety of projects while supporting our project team and client base that we service on a local, regional, and national basis. Typically, our projects involve supporting clients within the Transportation and Rail Infrastructure industry. RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate a deep fundamental understanding of geotechnical and foundation engineering theory and practice.
Prepare and plan geotechnical field exploration and laboratory testing programs.
Perform geotechnical analyses for the design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, and slope stabilization systems.
Prepare geotechnical reports detailing subsurface investigations, foundation recommendations, construction monitoring and quality assurance/control phases of work and other field / laboratory studies.
Monitor geotechnical drilling, perform site visits, and report findings to more experienced Engineers and/or Project Managers.
Demonstrate experience in design and analysis of transportation and infrastructure projects.
Satisfy project requirements by ensuring that quality standards and deadlines are met.
Conduct site visits, perform construction monitoring and attend client meetings.
Support Project Managers and more experienced Engineers in ensuring that task and project schedules and budgets are met.
Assist project managers with marketing and business development efforts.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required, Master’s of Science degree with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
0-3 years of experience in geotechnical design.
EIT Certification required, with a desire to become a Professional Engineer
Strong analytical and technical report writing skills, including numerical analysis as well as spreadsheet.
Ability to be self-motivated and to research and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
Familiarity with MS Office suite and geotechnical related commercial software.
Complete tasks for multiple projects while meeting project budgets and deliverable deadlines.
Ability to complete field inspection tasks for test borings, when needed
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $70,000 to $95,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
