General Position Summary:
The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for all who visit or call the Pastoral Care Center, providing a warm and welcoming presence consistent with the mission of Saint Andrew Catholic Church. This position supports the daily operations of the parish office by performing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks, ensuring effective communication and smooth workflow within the office. The Receptionist also assists with liturgical scheduling, donor tracking, and facility support duties, working collaboratively with staff and clergy.
Principal Accountabilities:
Manage the front desk during business hours, including answering incoming phone calls, directing calls and visitors appropriately, and welcoming guests to the Pastoral Care Center.
Coordinate priest Mass rotation schedules by gathering priest availability, compiling final schedules, distributing to staff, and posting on the parish website.
Maintain the pastor’s “wish list” and donor records; send timely thank-you acknowledgments to benefactors.
Handle the sale and inventory of sacramentals such as blessed oils and holy water.
Update and maintain parish office records, including telephone extension directories, emergency contact booklets, and internal forms; create cash/check deposit envelopes as needed.
Provide administrative support to the Liturgy and Worship department, assisting with various tasks as assigned.
Assist with other office responsibilities and perform additional duties as requested by the pastor.
Support general parish facility operations and participate in tasks based on the needs of the location.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
This position works in a typical office environment but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding needs of the Diocese, tight deadlines and moderate workloads.
Ability to sit and perform computer work for lengthy periods of time.
Able to access and maintain centralized departmental files. Involves extending arms and reaching files stored in multiple levels on shelves, climbing up a stepladder to access files.
Ability to accept work interruptions while still remaining focused on duties.
Data entry via computer keyboard that requires repetitive and frequent hand and wrist movements.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and up to 60 pounds with assistance.
Travel Requirements:
Infrequent travel, by car, may be required to Diocese Parishes and/or schools.
Education and Experience Preferred:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact with clergy, staff, and parishioners in a professional and respectful manner.
Familiarity with Catholic liturgical practices and parish life desirable.
Demonstrated ability to listen empathetically, make peace, and de-escalate
Demonstrated history of good judgement.
Demonstrated aptitude for adaptability and flexibility.
Ability to use various computer software programs, strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Word and Excel.
Ability to use various office machines (copier, fax, phones, calculator, scanner, etc.) or ability to learn.
