CMM Operator

Position Summary: The CMM Operator is responsible for ensuring that all manufactured and purchased parts conform to engineering drawings and specifications. This role plays a critical part in supporting subassembly personnel by providing precision inspection data, helping ensure compliance with final accuracy requirements. The CMM Operator performs both automated and manual inspections and contributes to overall product quality through rigorous measurement, analysis, and documentation.

Employment Type: Full Time Hourly

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct precise inspections of parts and subassemblies using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), ensuring compliance with customer requirements, quality plans, and engineering specifications.

Utilize existing CMM programs or perform manual layout inspections as necessary.

Provide feedback and measurement data to subassembly teams to support required adjustments.

Perform inspection of machine geometry within the assembly shop.

Maintain inspection records and support traceability and documentation requirements.

Perform scheduled CMM accuracy check-outs and calibration verification.

Execute basic CMM maintenance as specified in maintenance schedules.

Assist with additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field, with a strong focus on inspection or quality assurance.

Solid understanding of inspection methods, procedures, and tools, including layouts and measurement systems.

Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), with the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.

Capable of marking manufactured parts for further operations as specified in manufacturing routings.

Previous machine shop experience is required.

Familiarity with computer-based inspection systems and software tools.

Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Must possess sufficient general education to complete reports, perform basic calculations, maintain records, and communicate effectively.

Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Role may involve standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks in a manufacturing environment.
