Karter School of Ashburn is a brand-new early intervention center in Ashburn, VA, designed specifically for children ages 2 to 6 with special needs. Position: Special Needs Assistant Teacher (Full-Time & Part-Time)Age Group: 26 years

Position Summary

As an Assistant Teacher at Karter Little Wins, you will work side-by-side with Lead Teachers to provide hands-on support in the classroom. Youll help implement individualized learning plans, promote social-emotional development, and contribute to a safe, positive, and engaging classroom environment. This role is ideal for compassionate, dependable individuals who are passionate about early childhood education and special needs.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Lead Teacher in delivering instruction aligned with each childs Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or developmental goals

Facilitate learning and assist with classroom managementModel and encourage appropriate social behavior and communication

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment

Assist with feeding, toileting, and sensory activities as needed

Collaborate with therapists, teachers, and families to support whole-child development

Participate in staff training, team meetings, and professional development opportunities

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

CDA or coursework in Early Childhood Education or Special Education (preferred)

Experience working with young children, ideally in a special needs or preschool settingPatience, flexibility, and a nurturing demeanor

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and support children with mobility needs

Must pass background checks and be willing to complete required training
