COMPUTER SPECIALIST
Pace Academy is an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, Ga., with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade. The IT Department is a friendly, fast-moving, hard-working and can-do group with a sense of humor. The four-person team is located in a one-room office where its members constantly share and collaborate with each other. All four are involved in tech support. The ideal candidate is a people-person committed to going above and beyond to help others and has an aptitude for technology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support technology across all divisions and departments campus wide in a prompt and courteous manner, ensuring all Pace Academy technology policies are followed
Support Apple devices and software
Assist faculty, staff, students, parents/caregiver and vendors with technical support cases, provide training on new and existing technologies, and recommend improvements to current systems and tools
Assist in troubleshooting general hardware and software problems
Monitor system performance and report potential issues
Install, configure, repair and maintain technical hardware, software and network equipment
Keep up to date on best security practices and be able to implement
Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and network issues for Apple computers, iPads, AppleTVs, interactive projectors, printers and other peripherals in a timely manner
Assist with Audio/Visual setup for school assemblies, meetings and special events
Help teachers integrate technology into their classroom curriculum
Support both school-wide and division-specific systems, including Student Information Systems (SIS), local databases and other educational platforms
Maintain accurate inventory and documentation of technology assets
Create and maintain up-to-date documentation and training materials
Plan, execute, and manage special projects
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field with extensive knowledge
Experience and proven successful implementation of instructional technology in the classroom
Must be flexible, a strong communicator, a quick problem-solver, and eager to explore new strategies to enhance instruction and learning.
Independent school experience preferred
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Veracross, JAMF Systems and Filemaker experience a plus
Experience with spreadsheets, database manipulation, Advanced Google Apps knowledge and Google Workspace administration required
Technical proficiency with iOS, OSX, Windows and cloud-based platforms in an education setting required
Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and the ability to move among multiple tasks and projects with ease, maintaining multiple priorities and deadlines
Basic knowledge of network topology and wireless networking
Basic scripting skills, such as Python or shell scripting a plus
Must be able to work on campus, in-person
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Moderate noise associated with office environment
May have to traverse campus during a variety of weather conditions
Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, bend, stretch, climb ladders and stairs, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms to operate/lift/work on or with; tools, computers, telephone and keyboard; must be able to withstand heights
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
Light to moderate lifting up to 50 pounds may be required
