JOB SUMMARY

Part of the Global IT team, the Senior System Administrator is IT expert and professional, responsible for setting up and maintaining IT systems, servers and infrastructure, and based in the Fishers, Indiana office. As System Administrator you maintain the accessibility and uptime of GxP and corporate IT systems and services and are responsible for implementation and support of the Enterprise Systems and Laboratory Computer Systems. You ensure that all IT services are maintained to a high standard, and provide day to day support as required. You ensure that all incidents are properly addressed and make recommendations for improving the company's IT systems. You configure a resilient and secure IT architecture compliant to regulations and company policies, to ensure the success of the business.

You initiate and execute IT Projects based on the overall IT strategy and priorities and work with IT staff, internal customers, vendors, service partners, auditors and other stakeholders to ensure the right solutions are delivered, leading to better collaboration and tighter feedback loops across teams globally.

This role is expected to be on-site at our Indiana location.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization in our facilities systems

Responsible for system security, software updates, and change control procedures

Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance

Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes per Computer System Validation SOPs and protocols

Ensure that the IT environment is compliant to relevant regulatory and quality requirements.

Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures

Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues

Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure

Lead helpdesk support efforts, making sure desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions

Provide support to colleagues in both Lexington and Fisher facilities

Participate in internal audits and audits by external groups

Communicate to vendors, support-companies and third parties

Customer Service oriented with attention to detail and quality

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES

Essential/Desired

Education Level – Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or closely related field, or equivalent experience required

ON-THE-JOB EXPERIENCE

7+ years of experience supporting IT infrastructure

Experience in implementing Controlled Change and Patch Management of GxP systems a plus

System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus

Excellent computer, verbal, and written communication skills

Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent (Hyper-V, IAAS Azure, AWS)

Strong knowledge of cloud, systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.

Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g. PowerShell)

A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans

Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols including experience with Veeam backup Software
