Hardware Engineer
Location: Andover, MA
Contract: 6 months with potential extension or direct hire
Schedule: 9/80 Schedule Onsite – 1st shift
Compensation: $65-$75/hour with optional PTO and Benefits
Description:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to innovate with high-end embedded technology to solve complex systems. You will be part of a dedicated hardware electrical engineering team that collaborates within hardware and across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan layout, including type of computers and peripheral equipment modifications.
Analyze user needs and recommend appropriate hardware.
Build, test, and modify product prototypes using working models or theoretical models constructed with computer simulation.
Contribute to extremely complex technical aspects of a project.
Creatively design, develop and test/verify complex circuits, modules, or systems to meet customer and market requirements.
Evaluate reliability of materials, properties, and techniques used in production; plan, design, and develop electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment, packaging, optical systems, and/or DSP systems.
Provide technical consultation to other organizations and work leadership for lower-level employees.
Operate with significant latitude to design, and contribute to the design or test of complex, high-speed products and systems.
Recommend corrections in technical applications and analysis.
Skills and Experience:
Development of complex embedded digital hardware products from concept to completion.
Design with cutting-edge technology from Intel, Microchip, Xilinx, NVIDIA, TI, and beyond.
Conduct analysis including derating, reliability, and FMECA.
Perform schematic integrity checking analysis with Mentor Valydate or equivalent.
Manage Bill-of-Materials (BOM) Configuration Control.
Conduct Component Selection and End-of-Life Parts Management.
Interact with architecture/system engineering, program/product management, CAD & SI, ME, FW/SW, purchasing, and Manufacturing Operations.
Design modules that include processors, network switches, backplanes, and IO modules.
Design using high-speed digital design interfaces including Ethernet, PCIe, DDR SDRAM Memory. Support circuitry includes DC/DC power, Clocking, JTAG, SPI, I2C, UARTs.
Develop detailed design specifications, test plans, and verification reports.
Develop schematics using Cadence DEHDL (Concept) or equivalent.
Support CAD and Signal Integrity (SI) with PCB Rules using Cadence Allegro or equivalent.
Use HW LAB tools: Oscilloscopes and DVMs for verification and debugging.
Possess lab debugging skills for both HW/SW that range from new development to continued sustaining.
Design with Intel CPU architecture (Xeon-D, Cascade Lake, Sapphire Rapids), development, and test BIOS firmware.
Design network switching (Mellanox, Broadcom, Marvel).
Maintain requirements traceability (JAMA, DOORS).
Develop proposals, requirements, and design specifications.
Use Atlassian Collaboration Tools (JIRA, Confluence).
Experience with Commercial/Defense 3U/6U VPX (VITA46, VITA65) and Commercial ATCA PICMG 3.0.
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
Work Experience:
7+ years of experience.
