Maintenance Supervisor
Position Summary
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day maintenance operations to ensure the efficient functioning of all machinery and equipment. The role involves leading maintenance personnel, executing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring that production disruptions are minimized. The Maintenance Supervisor will play a key role in troubleshooting mechanical issues, ensuring compliance with safety and food safety regulations, and maintaining inventory of critical parts and supplies.
This position requires hands-on leadership, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to manage maintenance tasks in a fast-paced production environment. The Maintenance Supervisor will also be responsible for fostering a safety-first culture, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and coordinating with other departments to meet operational goals.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations & Reliability (75%)
Supervise and coordinate all maintenance activities including preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance of production equipment.
Lead troubleshooting and diagnostics for equipment failures to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
Oversee the maintenance team's daily work assignments, schedule shifts, approve time off, and ensure proper coverage at all times.
Interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics to guide maintenance and repair efforts.
Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
Monitor equipment and production areas to identify safety, mechanical, or food safety risks.
Manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies—place orders, track deliveries, and verify receiving.
Coordinate with production and quality teams to prioritize and plan maintenance tasks with minimal impact to operations.
Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with GMP, HACCP, and Health & Safety standards.
Supervise external contractors and vendors, ensuring work is completed safely and to company standards.
Train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance staff to ensure skill development and adherence to company protocols.
Promote a culture of safety and compliance by enforcing safe work practices and company policies.
Communicate any food safety concerns to the HACCP Coordinator.
Participate in daily operations meetings to align maintenance efforts with production needs.
May occasionally be required to work, support, and liaise with other Amir’s locations.
Continuous Improvement (20%)
Support and implement process improvement initiatives that enhance equipment efficiency and reliability.
Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, process optimization, and cost savings.
Collaborate with other departments on cross-functional improvement projects.
Track maintenance KPIs and use data to inform decisions and drive performance improvements.
Special Projects (5%)
Perform other duties and special assignments as directed by management.
Qualifications
Trade certification as an Industrial Electrician or Millwright required.
3+ years of experience in a supervisory maintenance role within a manufacturing or food processing environment.
Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance systems (CMMS).
Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a team.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, manuals, and blueprints.
Comfortable working in cold environments and production settings.
Strong attention to safety, hygiene, and compliance requirements.
