A day in the life of an activity assistant:

Plan daily activities, both in-house and outdoor excursions (when possible)

Encourage patients (and occasionally their family members) to participate in events

Keep the facility calendar updated to ensure there are no scheduling conflicts with other events

Document patient participation

Qualifications:

Must be 16 or older

Previous experience in a long-term care, hospital or other institutional setting (preferred, not required)

Desire to work with the elderly and provide exceptional customer service.

Must be a self-starter and able to work independently and efficiently

Reliable transportation
